The Layoff

It was bound to happen sooner or later. I guess I should be thankful it happened later. well... later than the holidays. I would have liked for it never to happen but for the past couple months I have been getting by on 16 hour weeks, sometimes one day first shift, one day third shift. sometimes the day before I work I would bet a call with a schedule change. at least now I can be broke and not have my job and fucked up sleep schedule take me away from the family.

One thing that really bugs me though. the way this all works out is that there was the foreman myself and another co-worker completing different tasks on various shifts, and this whole time I was led to believe that we all were taking it in the ass on behalf of preserving employment and stretching things till brighter days (how'd that work out for me). the foreman does put in some long hours and plays politics and such, and the other guy is an anal retentive die hard raised in the union.. dad did his full career and got junior in right away sort of guys. in his quest to document everything like a good union brother does he keeps time sheets detailing what he did, and where he did it. that little fucker has been getting solid 40's for some time now, and the only reason he didn't get 40 last week is because he called in sick on Monday. and the whole time I was told we were all sacrificing. I'd never know if he didn't leave his notebook sprawled across the table wide open.

things were so much simpler when I worked at low paying jobs.

I suppose sooner or later you need to bite the hand that feeds you or you will be a lap dog all your life.

Wish me luck, If I get any I'll be making a career change
