Time to wander on...

The yearlong odyssey ends...
I am no longer employed at a sweatshop.
here's the cliff's notes:

long time ago I got laid off, I was pretty burned out and was paired with a corrosive supervisor in a bad situation.  collected unenjoyment through the winter and got a job call May of last year.  Working Maintenance in a large laundromat.  Turns out my job was a supervisory position equivalent to being the coach of the bad news bears, apart from a triumphant, feel good, unite the team scene at the end.
the job was a never ending constant stream of stress.  the position required me to have a blackberry which also caused constant phone calls and emails at all hours of the night, on the weekends (the few i wasn't required to work) and on vacations.  it would always seem the company was organized around the principle of the company first.  I got the feeling that as a several generational family owned business that everyone saw how much their fore fathers put the company above their families and the health and well being of it's employees and no one wanted to break the trend.  the workforce consists of a little more than 100 employees and there have been over 100 new employees in less than a year.
I could cite reasons like being verbally belittled for 20 minutes because a vendor pulled through the gates and parked in back to service the equipment rather than out front, or being notified 15 minutes before the end of my shift that I will have to work 2 hours extra.  Better yet is when one of the founders of the company uses terms the describe the African, Chinese, and Mexican populations that would probably get him killed if people didn't assume he was senile.  While I was on vacation I received an email from the owner asking my thoughts on an unpaid day off request from an employee of 15 years taking a Friday off because he's getting married the next day.  Seriously?  I could go on, but it's all behind me now.
Also while I was on vacation I got a job. Luck of the draw it was with a company I had worked with before.  it has employer paid insurance and retirement, pays over $6 more per hour, and my schedule is 6-2:30 (vs. 9-6, or 7 or 8 depending on the day)  a whole lot less stress.  I have gotten several calls from people I haven't worked with for 6-8 years welcoming me back and hoping they will have a chance to work with me again.
all the stuff I had done exceeding expectations this past year and I have never once gotten so little as a "good job"
