And so it begins

it would seem that things were looking rather decent for the past few weeks. I was bouncing here and there on jobs helping out, a couple days at the hospital, a day at the new city market, a day at the credit union...the point here is that jobs are usually allotted so many man hours. that's should be the key to longevity, if you can get a job done ahead of schedule, and get a day here and a day there you can fill up your week and get a full paycheck without straining the system of employment. we were told the hospital is now a two guy a week job. there are plenty of guys who would love to work 2 days a week...so two days a week at the hospital, day here and day there, at places I am quite familiar with and where I have strived to develop a good customer relationship. not the case. apparently the work needs to be spread around like Obama spreading the wealth around...yeah, I'm feeling the effects of both of those jammed up my backside right now.

So a lot of guys have been crunching the numbers lately. 2 days work is just slightly higher than what we would get on unemployment, so that's where that number came from. not enough to pay your benefits so it would whittle that number down a bit in an effort to keep health insurance.

2 days a week. for fucks sake, i consider myself highly skilled and highly trained. I know that times are tough as all get out and things are thin and the company is strapped as hell for work but damn that ain't much. I was badly depressed for the first couple days. then i just decided well, no sense in crawling in a hole and dying, I have spent the last week or so dropping off applications in an effort to land something lucrative. my face book update was on the order of dropping off applications in the dark is kind of like casting a fishing line into a toilet bowl.
out of all the places I stopped and applications and resumes i left around town so far only 2 have been actively seeking help. I really need to find something that will work around my 2 days. seems like a messed up way to do it but I have a family to look out for, and health insurance ranks right up there. two days worth of pay at my "normal" job will land me a touch over 300 bucks. near as i can guess with taxes and such. a $9 an hour job @ 40 hour s a week, figuring 33% taxes would bring home like $267. that would actually work for things, but it would leave me with little life, which would be OK knowing that my family was being provided for. I am honestly ready and willing to make a career change if i can provided it still helps out my family. the more I think about it the more I'd really like to get away from construction and seasonally influenced work in general. what good is making $30 an hour if you only work 4-5 months out of the year?also what good is making $12 an hour if you have to drive a few hours to get somewhere for work.

the latest words on work are 2-3 years out. that seems really bleak. that also sounds like total bullshit, seriously what kind of magic damn crystal ball do the powers at be to know what the fuck will be going on in three years. all they are doing is trying to keep our hopes up.

It's a funny game I get to play, but all i can do is hope for a good card or two and take a chance an hope it works.
Yes I even re-applied at wal mart
